Part of the Texas Psychedelic scene this American group makes full on Stoner Jamzzz in an Electric Wizard meets Grateful Dead type way, loe the fan video on this one too... closest thing to it is the EHG vid for Anxiety Hangover which i posted before & is equally epic.

WaGawAgA
Hertfordshire based Dubstep artist who's sound is totally pushing things forward, the mrepsican album [which is available for free @ archive.org] is amazing, this is some of the best Dubstep i've ever heard.
BIGUP to Mark for thissun
Wednesday, 9 December 2009
Obsidian Pond
Manchester based Experimental group, their music is a sort of Lo-Fi Psychedelic but with a very tribal repetition and overall Tropical/Calypso feel, they're seemingly associated with Deathbomb Arc.

Pungo
Sunday, 6 December 2009
Diane Cluck
American coffee shop Anti-Folk artist, she's done collaborations with Jeffrey Lewis & Toby Goodshank amongst others and all six of her current lp's are essential listening, she's got the pleasant beauty of counterpart Joanna Newsom, but the delivery of a female Leonard Cohen/Jason Molina, very melon collie.
DJ Psylage
Much like 'Master' another UK Wrong Music associated act with little to no info & only appearing a few times scattered across some WM cdr's... i think he's also associated with the Countryside Alliance Crew, whatever the case anything that mixes the Wurzels with propa rudebwoy Junglism is awesome.
Topaz Rags
Amanda from Pocahaunted + Robedoor = Topaz Rags, American freaky/Drone/Psych-Folk [but really neither], haunting Rock... ballads, like most Not Not Fun releases, impossibly hard to classify, which is the reason so many flock to the label. They're total 'strung-out on heroin blues' type stuff & easily one of the top 5 acts on NNF
Ingrid Schroeder
One of the shorter lived artists to come from the mid 90's UK Trip Hop scene, she managed to release a full length lp & two 12''s 'Bee Charmer' & 'Paint it Blue' both of which i like, but it's this remix by Peshay from the Paint it Blue single that stands out best, to me it sounds like Air sat down and decided to make DnB, totally chilled.
Thursday, 3 December 2009
Metaform
American Instrumental Hip Hop/Trip Hop/Soulful & funky Breakbeat with a hint of experimentation artist who's up there with similar people like RJD2 or Foolk, check out his killer Standing On the Shoulders of Giants lp.
Wednesday, 2 December 2009
Bruno Pronsato
Ex-Drummer for the Punk/Speed Metal band 'Voice Of Reason' turned Micro/Minimal Techno producer, his stuff is dark, sexy, hypnotic, tribal, glitchy, futuristic & so much more... highly recommend his Why Cant We Be Like Us? lp & other Hello? Repeat releases.
Antischism
Late 80's/Early 90's American Crust Punk, youthful, energetic, brutal and screechy but at the same time chock full of headbanger riffs & totally melodic, one of the best.
DJ Scotch Egg
More Wrong Music, Scotch Egg is a Japanese Chiptune/Experimental/Gabbacore [just made that up] artist from the UK, his music is Chiptune to the hardcore end of the spectrum, screaming through megaphones and abusing Nintendo beats into spazzy rave stuff. While getting notorious through the festival circuit over the last few years & hitting it big on the underground with his KFC Core album, it's this track from a cdr i grabbed from Glade a few years back that blows me away everytime.
Tuesday, 1 December 2009
Willie and the Bumblebees
Willie and the Bumblebees is a Minnesota Funk/Blues/Jam group, this track features on a private press record from 1976, this is seriously Funky Jammin' stuff.
DJ Sprinkles
American Deep House from his recent Sisters, I Don't Know What This World Is Coming To 12''... spacey/hypnotic in a sort of Claude Von Stroke like way & great sexy dancefloor filler.
Monday, 30 November 2009
Shag 'n' Skoob
UK Breakbeat Hardcore act who's sole release was 'Skooby Chewnz Vol. 1' on the short lived Wintermute label, apparently made using an old Amiga this four track 12'' deserves appreciation... there's a lot goin' on here.
Sunday, 29 November 2009
Master
I know for sure they're from the UK & they're related to Wrong Music, anymore information than that seems to be impossible to locate. From the first time i heard this track yearsss ago i knew i loved it, so free & utterly silly... lacking in any want or need to display musical ability and instead just fucking GOING FOR IT, it's like free jazz or improvisational poetry done by our generations drug abusing youth, i love absolutely everything about it and wish i could find more songs than just this & the equally as silly/brilliant track 'Skills' featuring on Now Thats What i Call Wrong Music Vol.4
Glass Candy
American Electronic group, their earlier work is very Electro/Disco Punky... but their later stuff is straight up nu-skool Italo-Disco & i love it, you may be familiar with their work through the 2008 film 'Bronson' but regardless this comes highly recommended, they have one of the most vintage sounds around at the moment and are currently releasing through the awesome Italians Do It Better label.
Saturday, 28 November 2009
Freddy K
American Psychedelic/Punk artist, this is taken from his website [He boldly touches on love, crime, drugs, prison, alcohol, homelessness, spiritual and physical warfare from a unique angle and first-hand experience.] i can hear this perfectly in his music, like Captain Beefheart & Iggy Pop getting together, mellowing out and having a wasted jam in the same vein as the Grateful Dead, this is some of the best music i have heard in years & highly recommend everyone indulging in everything he's done, which is equally as great.
Big thanks to nightimelady again for this!
Ned Doheny
California native Singer Songwriter/Pop artist, his 1976 lp 'Hard Candy' is full of great tracks... mellow & funky, great for chilled out sunny afternoons.
Friday, 27 November 2009
16 Bitch Pile Up
Ohio based all female Noise/Experimental group, their music is like building Soundscapes of plucks & hums & glitches & whines... the youtube comment is spot on, like Wolf Eyes but female & more chilled out, but that isn't to say it's not equally as dark at times.
Red Snapper
Don't forget the classics, one of my favorite singles from Warp Records, Trip Hop/Downtempo... Experimental... raps with epic bass, early 90's UK wikkidness.
Clint Mansell
Renown Modern Classical/Soundtrack artist Mansell made big hits with works for Aranofsky's Requiem for a Dream & The Fountain, returning again for Moon his music evokes the tension and loneliness of the equally amazing film perfectly.
Harmony & Xtreme
94 Jungle from Deep Jungle records, this ones heavy on the Amen abuse & while having a full on Ragga vibe, pulls it off perfectly.
Todd Tamanend Clark
70's/80's Pennsylvania based Psychedelic Punk stuff... i'm reminded of Iggy Pop & Richard Hell but it sounds like they had a session with the Dead or Floyd, if you love kickin' back to jam music with great blues inspired riffs then this is for you.
Big thanks to nightimelady for this!
Yura Yura Teikoku
Wiki explains it best '3-piece band from Tokyo's underground music scene centered around Kōenji. They have an eclectic sound usually described as Psychedelic Pop-Punk' i found these guys through the music they did for Shion Sono's epic film 'Love Exposure' & love this track in particular for it's insane Noise/Psych/Drone bridge halfway through... so good.
Monkey Steak
South London based Dub/Breakcore/Wonky DnB stuffz... their sounds constantly changing and their live sets [which are worth grabbing if you find any] are awesome, but no indication of the eclectic nature of their sound. This particular track is off the 4 tracker Electric Birdland' on Death$ucker, not a bad track on it... but this is the best.
Friday, 20 November 2009
Vibravoid
Berlin Hard/Fuzzed Out Psychedelic group, their sound is typical head bob back & forth Rock/Psych but with an almost Acid Mothers Temple or Spacemen 3 feel sometimes, check out 'Void Vibration'... i think they kick ass.

Tempa T
There's simply no way i could not post this overthetop UK Grime track, the video and song are perfect together and Westwoods little cameo at the start only adds to why it's the most amusing thing i've seen in ages.

BADBOXR
Staff Benda Bilili
St.Vitus Dance
UNSIGNED [just captalizing incase any label people read this] Trip Hop/IDM/Experimental artist from the UK, considering the fact he's one of my closest friends i can know without guessing that a lot of his influences are along the lines of the things posted in this blog so far [ie: you will like this]. Somewhat like a blend of Four Tet & later Bonobo without quite being either, i wouldn't be surprised if i found out it was released through a label like Neo Ouija, seriously top stuff... also props to Si for the awesome video.
Bendaly Family
Choking Victim
New York 'C-Squat' related Punk act... their sound walks the line between Ska & Punk often being neither & both at the same time, their lyrics deal with anarchy, suicide, drug addiction & depression in the most positive/happy way possible, i highly recommend getting your hands on all the few releases they had.
Origin Unknown
Two of DnB's heavweights Andy C & Ant Miles under their old Breakbeat Hardcore alias, this was the second release for the notorious RAM Records, as you'll see from this the labels sound was a lot more 92/93 Rave before moving into the more jump up styled DnB that they're famous for now, while their biggest hit was the classic 'Valley of Shadows' this is my personal fave.
Thursday, 5 November 2009
Evelyn King
Disco/R&B artist from America, this particular track is way more Pimp Funk [yeah i'm using that as a genre, sue me] & features on her 1983 album Get Loose, it's typically 80's, very funky & dancefloor friendly.
Emil Beaulieau
Harsh/Melodic [questionable] Noise from the American legend... his discography is Merzbow'esque expansive, my favorite being 'Dedicated to Charlie Ward', he's an experimentalist of the truest form, constantly changing styles/adding more/making mistakes. He is also the owner of the notorious RRRecords, aka: one of the best Noise labels ever. If you want to see true expression coming through intense sound and visual aggression, this is exactly that.
Gershwin
At a guess... 94 Jungle, released on the very short lived Suntribe Records & packed full of ethereal samples & all out Amen abuse, classic.
Hype Williams
This review explains it best: Hype Williams, from East London by way of three continents, make lo-fi electronic music whose experience is ethereal, primordial, and quasi-religious. It is not dance music. Not sure if it’s even listening music. It’s made with machines but it sounds like it came from 50,000 years in the past, from some animist or ancestor-worship ritual.

Kemialliset Ystävät
Avant-Garde, Psych-Folk, Electronic freak out stuff from Finland... nice & childish/trippy and utilizing tons of instruments.
Angra Mainyu
Flint Glass
French Experimental/Illbient/IDM/Soundscape & so much more artist, his 3 albums on Brume Records are great.
Exillon
Darkside German Acid on Ad Noiseam, check out 'It's OK To Dance' & his other more IDM releases, love when the snares kick in on this.
Mikro Orchestra
Polish Gameboy/Tech by the former Gameboyzz Orchestra act, their sound is hypnotic & progressive like Techno but still using everything familiar with Chiptune/8-bit, but in a new way.
Saturday, 31 October 2009
Bingo Gazingo
Bingo Gazingo is an elderly poet and former postal worker from NYC, his sole album was released through WFMU & his music is frantically poetic, pop culture, senility raps about J-lo & Madonna... i think he's awesome.
Friday, 30 October 2009
Hydroponic Sound System
Eclectic Downtempo/Hip Hop group, their sound is seriously laid back, like Bonobo or Lee Perry... you just instantly space out into smoke screened atmospheres.
Pepe Bradock
Super floaty Parisian Deep House, sampling just the intro to Freddie Hubbard's 'Little Sunflower' and looping over and over, slowly adding the tiniest bits at a time, perfect comedown House full of warm/rich sounds.
Dennis Coffey
70's American Multi-instrumentalist Funk/Soundtrack artist, best known probably for either his soundtrack to Black Belt Jones or his hit instrumental track Scorpio, which is what i'm posting now... but dont think i'm posting his best, it's reallllllly hard to call what his best stuff is, my personal fave is the main theme from BBJ but i've posted Scorpio because it's a great introduction to his work & the video is Soul Train, so like... yeah
The D-Coys
60's Australian Garage Rock/Beat duo mostly known for this track & another named 'Bad Times' both of which have featured on multiple rarities comps, Upbeat sixties Pop vibes.
Thursday, 29 October 2009
Akino Arai
Japanese female soloist track taken from the anime Macross Plus, the whole soundtrack is pretty good but this track stands out to me, a sort of Trip Hop/Jazzy ballad, smooth.
Giant Squid
Post Metal, their 'Metridium Fields' album is absolutely amazing, imagine TOOL, System of a Down & Russian Circles all getting together for a jam & you're close, highly recommended.
Long ''Cleve'' Reed & Little Harvey Hull
Possibly as old as 1920's Blues music, taken from the Down In The Basement: Joe Bussard's Treasure Trove of Vintage 78''s compilation on Old Hat Records [great label], story goes that the only existing copy of this 78 is the one in Bussard's collection, so we're privy to hear this. The song [like a lot of other Blues tracks] is based on the tale of Stagger Lee.
Fingathing
Hip Hop/Nu Jazz act from Ninja Tune, in the same vein as Mr. Scruff their music is hard to label, it's often Hip Hop, but then it also isn't... this track in specific is a terrible inticator of what their music is like, but at the same time is my favorite tune by them & a brilliantly uplifting/floaty one at that.
Pax
Heavy Psychedelic Rock from Peru, this very short lived [2 years to my knowledge] band only released one self titled album [again to my knowledge] but it's full of kickass Psych grooves.
Edge of Darkness
93'' UK Oldskool Rave/Breakbeat Hardcore from After Dark Recordings, this is my favorite track from this label or any of it's affiliates, it's like over the top Jungle with a sort of ethereal/fantasy element to it, total rave up bizznezz.

Gromov
Super heavy Breakcore from Russia, POUNDING chaotic amen breaks & Public Enemy samples... this is intense, if you like this grab his album of the same title, it kills.
Unsane
Noise Rock from New York, their first 4 album are all worth digesting... screeching guitars, feedback, strained vocals, a classic 'destroy the fuck out of something' Punk angst group. On another note my reason for posting this is also that my last few posts haven't had videos, whereas this has a great one.
Hot Chocolate
70's Pop/Disco/Funk act mostly known for their hit single 'You Sexy Thing', i know most people already know the group, but this track deserves posting, smooth Funk Pop.
Robad Pills
Florida based Breakcore from SickMode, the whole 'Put Down That Clove And Get A Fucking Life ep' is worth checking, for fans of Enduser/Snares etc...
Studio G Beat Group
Library labels like KPM, De Wolfe Studio, April Orchestra have been recognized for a long while now, only recently have Studio G got any real 'outside the scene' attention having had a compilation release on Trunk Records. This specific record is hard to come by, full of Psych Rock awesomeness... i spent years looking for a copy after hearing some of the tracks feature in the sexploitation film 'Deadly Weapons' if you ever see this record buy it.
Punch
Female fronted Powerviolence from San Francisco, California... heavy breakdowns, intelligent song structures & raw/aggressive vocals, grab the self titled release & the eyeless 7''.

Nurse With Wound
Steven Stapleton aka NWW is the king of Drone/Industrial/Dark Soundscape/Creepiness... my biggest recommendation is to his Soliloquy for Lilith series... full of spacey, atmospheric drone worlds. This video acts a perfect introduction to his work, disturbed visions of bizarre worlds.
Sunburned Hand of the Man
Associated with the New Weird America Psych Folk movement going on [Espers/Animal Collective/CocoRosie etc...] this Boston group have an ever adapting lineup & create music of such vast difference that they are again impossible to pidegon hole, Psychedelic Experimentation is the usual game, but done in ways reminiscent of everyone from the Grateful Dead to NWW.
Anti Cimex
80's Swedish D-Beat/Hardcore Punk, this reeks of angst & aggression... if you like your Punk raw & fast, you'll love this.
ESG
Called Art-Funk probably due to the fact that while Funk... this group sounds nothingggg like anything else within that category, formed by 3 sisters from the South Bronx & a close friend they released an awesome self titled album back in the early 80's, this specific track has been sampled by everyone from Afrika Bambaataa & 2Pac to Dilla... classic
EYヨ
Tetsurō Yamatsuka, also known as Yamantaka Eye, Yamatsuka Eye, eYe etc... is hands down one of my favorite musicians, i've not heard a project by him that i haven't liked, starting with the notorious Hanatarash [one of the most extreme & influential Noise acts EVER] & going through all forms of Experimentalism in acts such as Noise Ramones, Puzzle Punks, MC Hellshit & DJ Carhouse, Nani Nani [with John Zorn] & Destroy 2, not to mention all the even smaller side projects with Sonic Youth or his Turntablism madness under DJ Pica Pica Pica & DJ Chaos X and his most renown role as the percussionist/singer/trickster of Psych-Rock group Boredoms, to say he's eclectic is an understatement. Tetsurō has always abide by a Punk aesthetic no matter what project he's in & his stance on making music is a very childish one, making sounds from anything at hand/using instruments in non conventional manners and using unconventional things AS instruments. This is a rare 2 part video interview showing how he does what he does... it's in Japanese, but you really don't need to understand to enjoy it.
Stina Nordenstam
Soft spoken Experimental Pop melodies from Sweden... this is my favorite track by her, a cover of The Doors, which i personally feel far surpasses the original [of which i'm not a fan] the original is so upbeat & jangly, this is how i want the track to sound... melodic, heartfelt, depressing, beautiful.

Groove Chronicles
More UK Garage, released on the artists self titled Label, both this & the b-side are amazing, but this is the standout classic... Dark & mellow 2-step intro cut up with Aaliyah & Sax samples, all dropping into deep moody basslines... this tune is rudeeee
Maryanne Amacher
Fascinating American Experimental Noise artist, her work focuses mainly on otoacoustic emission [sound which is generated from within the inner ear] & when played at the right sound level, which is quite high and exciting, the tones in her music will cause your ears to act as neurophonic instruments that emit sounds that will seem to be issuing directly from your head. This is a clip from a 30 min docu of her being visited by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth.
R.A.W.
Sun Araw
Naked City
Premature Ejaculation
Dark/Creepy/Experimental... Soundscape Noise? this is my favorite project from Rozz Williams of Christian Death... in their short lived and extreme existence they created nightmarish collages of voice samples/wailing drones/screeches/machine sounds... it's very world creating, but it isn't a world many people would want to live in, Throbbing Gristle fans will love this.
Wookie
One of UK Garage's biggest producers released this classic remix of the R&B/House hit 'Little Man' under the alias Exemen, it's one of my favorite garage tracks... there's a real Tropical/Dubstep vibe going on here... i cant see how anyone can dislike this.
Jan Jelinek
IDM/Minimal Electronic music from Germany, his music is often relaxing, glitchy & atmospheric... the video also really helps this one.
Friday, 23 October 2009
DJ Red Alert & Mike Slammer
Oldskool Rave/Breakbeat Hardcore from the UK, i had to post these guys... everything they touched was gold, their entire Slammin' Vinyl discog, everything on the 6 volume Question Mark series, their few tunes under DJ Red Alert & Pepsi & notably the Original Bad Boy ep, which while still on Slammin' Vinyl was released under the alias D-Force. I cant begin to describe how many moments of my life have been soundtracked by these guys since my friend Alex hooked me up way back in my teens. CLASSIC!
Tom Zé
Brazilian Tropicália artist often noted alongside Beefheart & Zappa, his music has everything from easy going grooves to seriously bizarre experimentation, i've posted one of his more conventional tracks, for something more strange check out 'TAKA-TÁ'... it's pretty hard to want to disagree with all the comments calling this guy a genius.
Pierre Bastien
Genghis Tron
Roy Davis Jr.
Cappuccino
Jungle Bunnies
94 Jungle from South London label Ard Kickin' Toonz, which only ever released this 12''... ethereal vocals, spacey synth's & amens galore from deep in the jungle, ere dis.
Datassette
Often filed in with Chiptune/8-bit, this UK producers stuff is definitely transcendent of that... Electro/Minimal DnB/Glitch... simply put Computer Music, like Kraftwerk for the hipster rave era... his self titled album and a lot of the work done under his Datashat alias are awesome.
Bobby Caldwell
Bigup to the friday night DJ @ Deco
The Wiseguys
Known by most for their hit single 'Ooh la la' which featured on the Budweiser commerical back in the day... i'm fairly sure that the success of that track 'basically making them a 1 hit wonder' overshadowed the rest of ther body of work, much like Mr. Oizo after Flat Beat, but these guys are seriously worth checking into... Funkyyyy ass Breakbeats, proper b-boy jamz.
Wednesday, 21 October 2009
Balance Inc
93' Oldskool Breakbeat Hardcore/Jungle act from the short lived UK label Marshall Gold, i'm finding it impossible to locate a copy of this, if you have it, help a brotha out.
Our Sleepless Forest
Ambient, but also strangely Post Rock like at times... walls of blissful sounds... birds, murmers, pitches and chimes from this South London trio, beautiful stuff.
Franck Vigroux
Avant-Garde, Soundscape from France, very moody, dark & atmospheric... music to wander through futuristic empty cities at night.
Mu
Leftfield Dance, so much so that no 1 track can give you any idea of the body of this UK chicks work... which is 2 killer albums 'Out of Breach' & 'Afro Finger And Gel', if i were to try and describe the amount of things/sounds/genres covered in her music, i'd be here a long while, so simply put... this is a female Captain Beefheart for modern dancefloors.
Dubkasm
Dutty Bass from this UK/Brazil based Dub duo, atmospheric/deep/smoking material, their last album 'Transform I' kicks ass.
TOKiMONSTA
!NSiDE
South Korean DJ collective consisting of ASP, Simo, Flyherro, TokiMonsta, Mood Schula, Kay Shin, !NS, Esspee, Bygone Tomorrow & Pandaponics... they produce butter smooth, Post-Dilla Hip Hop & given the current love for this kind of stuff, i'd imagine them getting some notice over here within the year.
Big love to Luna again for this <3

Dan Boadi & the African Internationals
Funky Afrobeat/Disco/Jazz from this Ghana based multi-instrumentalist, serious dancefloor jam & a long player at 10 mins, theres MAW style grooves all over this classic, taken from the 2 track album of the same title.
Bong Messages
Experimental DnB/Jungle duo that released their only album in 97 on TP9 Records, very forward thinking stuff.
Jackie Mittoo
Hudson Mohawke

Tuu
Tuu was an ambient group from the late 1980s to 1999. Led by Martin Franklin, the band emerged from the post acid house chill out scene of early 1990s in the UK, blending electronica and the emerging sampling technology with traditional and invented global instrumentation. [taken from wiki] My take on this track specifically though is that it's world creating, deep & meditative stuff.
Graves At Sea
Sludge Metal act who's 2004 feature length Documents of Grief was my primary metal album for a longgg time, if you dig EHG, Fistula, Botch etc... you'll love this, raw/progressive/brutal.
Marco Passarani
Experimental Techno, sometimes sounding like both Aphex & Autechre, but also just quite it's own thing... pleasantly complex, electronic soundscapes.
Matias Aguayo
Sexy/Tribal/Exotic/Experimental House/Tech/Something... no idea, such a fresh sound, his whole Ay Ay Ay album is imo essential listening & the fact he's signed up to sexy new label Cómeme pretty much seals how awesome he is... my favorite thing about this guys music is how much he plays around with natural sounds/childish melodies made with a type of 'la la la' technique, but crafted so elegantly.

Takahiro Kido
Chevron & Karl Marx Stadt
Individually awesome producers, Chevron having released classics on both Planet Mu & Wrong Music and Stadt releasing intricate IDM/Breakcore/Hard Jungle, most recently my favorite being 'Top Sound Killer' on Ulan Bator Records, but this track features on the Lord Harvestman’s Trackx unreleased mini album that came out to celebrate the Lovely Time Tour... it's insane that this hasn't had a proper release considering it's quality.
Erik Sumo
The influence of multiple areas of 'World' music/Film Soundtracks/Trip Hop are all apparent in this Budapest producers work, discogs labels this guy Gypsy Jazz, Abstract, Downtempo, Broken Beat... whatever the case, it's really good.
Big Love to Luna again for this <3
Impedance
Only putting out 2 records in the late 80's on Jumpin' & Pumpin', this somewhat Oldskool House act released the best version of this tune that i've heard.

Danton Eeprom
Progressive UK Club music with awesomely vicious theremin sounds, sucks you in like a vortex.. DEEP
Thursday, 15 October 2009
Sphene
Unsigned London based IDM artist, if you like Datach'i & Aphex Twin's lighter stuff... you'll like this
Bibio
Recent signee to Warp Records, this UK producer crafts IDM/Folktronica, but really just a mix of both IDM [sometimes a bit Ambient] + Folk tracks... but it's all killer, he has a perfect understanding of how to layer his sounds, beautiful folkish stuff.
The Ice Cream Headaches
Experimental UK group, really impossibe to classify because their stuff is all over the place... this was one of my two favorite tracks off of the 'Etc..' comp from Wrong Music, an atmospheric interlude at only a minute and a half.
Converge
Another group i cant see being an introduction to many, but i'm posting for two very specific reasons, firstly that their new album is here & it kicks ass and secondly that i'd never checked into their videos before and found out how amazing they were, one of Hardcore's finest acts.
Posting 2 for awesomeness
Wednesday, 14 October 2009
Mestizo & Mike Gao
California Hip Hop, their album Blind Faith is full of drum break/Jazz samplin' goodness, dope ass jamz for hot summer nights.
Big Love to Luna again for this <3
Erik Truffaz
Blue Note Jazz Fusion/Acid Jazz trumpeter Truffaz is often linked to Dnb/Jungle with his beat heavy compositions... while i'm not a huge fan of Nya's rapping on this, the track behind it is so amazing... this is one artist where if you like this, you'll probably dig a lot of his stuff.
pRecycle
Another one of my super gems... IDM/Jungle/Experimental/genre splicing computer music from Israel, his albums 'Mist' & 'Sealed' are both easily locatable from a google search & worth downloading [they're free too], this though is from a small batch of tracks seemingly not on any release [information is sparse on this guy] so to my knowledge, this may be the only place you're going to hear this, even lastfm doesn't confirm it's existence.
BBC Radiophonic Workshop
To some this group of musicians goes without saying, nothing short of pioneers to multiple areas of music/sound. Two artists of this 'collective' of sorts have been getting a lot more recognition recently, John Baker... who's recordings have been released through Trunk Records & Delia Derbyshire, who's been recognized as one of the innovators of electronic music. This is a fascinating documentary & a brilliant introduction to these sound magicians. The links to the other parts are all in the sidebar of the first video.
Gus n' Fin
Two friends from the UK who like to do quirky cover versions for youtube, often involving a ukulele in some way, this is my personal favorite... the best Gary Numan cover i've heard, really upbeat & poppy.
Elli Kokkinou
Greek Pop music... much in the same way that i want to kick myself for enjoying Sugababes/JT/Britney backing tracks, i'm the same with this... but there is the plus fact that i cant understand what she's saying & the Greek language flows along nicely.
Big Thanks to Zweo for this :]
Aggroman
Nasty Darkside DnB, not falling into the vast amount of samey hardcore DnB out there at the moment [of which i find there is a lot] this track uses a somewhat ethereal film score to get you floating along before it smacks you in the face with a fist of nasty breaks, top stuff off of the consistently great Aural Carnage Recordings.

Skanna
As far as Oldskool Rave/Breakbeat Hardcore go... there is no questioning that John Graham was one of it's greatest producers, everything he did for White House & his own Skanna label [aside from Skanna 11 which i've never found/heard] is amazing, not just good, nor great, but amazing... he perfectly blends together heavy breakbeats and lushious instruments/samples, which would explain why his records now go for so much.
Martin Circus
I was going to upload 'Barbe-Bleue' off of their phenomenal En Direct du Rock'n Roll Circus album, but i decided the wacky video to this equally awesome track would lure people in just as well. My favorite French band by a long shot, psychedelic jamz.
Czeslaw Niemen
One of the most important Singer Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalists from Poland... at times, somewhat like a Polish Stones/Who... [open to argument]
The New Dance Show
The New Dance Show was a television show in Detroit which ran in the late-1980s to mid-1990s on WGPR-TV 62 (now a CBS affiliate known as WWJ-TV). Hosted by R.J. Watkins, The New Dance Show was a low-budget local version of Soul Train and featured regular dancers including a man who dressed like a vampire and wore a cape and a woman who dressed as a boxer. I LOVE stuff like this...

Chic-A-Go-Go
two of the my faves...
