Naked City

One of John Zorns best projects, Experimental/Free-Jazz/Grind...Rock!?! another one of those impossible to classify acts, their self titled album & Torture Garden are amazing, packed full of ideas that were way ahead of their time. I chose one of their most deranged [but awesome] songs here, mainly because it's got cut up scenes from Mathew Barneys Cremaster Cycle over it... and they fit soooo well.

  1. The Moonchild Trio w\ Dunn and Patton would also be worth throwing a bone, especially from Songs Without Words. I don't think that project got much press.

  2. Or Maldoror with Merzy, if you're in the mood for posting Patton projects? Maybe it's been enough years since FNM to remind the kids about that one?

  3. I'm considering posting Moonchild, i didn't think much of the Merzbow/Patton collab & i'm not enough of a Faith No More fan to post them either + they're the kind of act i would expect anyone reading this blog to already know.

I will be putting up some other Merzbow collabs though, only so far is Flying Testicle definite... the rest i'ma have to re-listen through before deciding.

  4. NAH, I was just attempting cleverness by mentioning FNM next to Maldoror since the collab was done during that era. You posting FNM here would be like posting Papa Roach and expecting a cookie in the mail for giving us Y2K flashbacks.

AND YEAH post something that non-Merzfagz wouldnt've heard. I'm personally super picky about his stuff so I don't explore much.

Plus propz overall for this blog, your commentary is way helpful when browsing and your picks are gnar. I'm used to music bloggers either over or underexplaining their uploads so it's way appreciated.

  6. Oh yeah, I forgot: one of the aural recipes from Pranzo Oltranzista would be another good second option if you don't fancy Moonchild for a Patton project.
